Si svolge sabato 12 e domenica 13 novembre 2022 a Brescia un workshop di danza contemporanea indiana con Hemabharathy Palani. Due giorni di lavoro sulla tecnica della danza indiana: Kalarippayattu, Bharatanatyam e tecnica contemporanea.

Workshop di tecnica Bharatanatyam, l’arte marziale Kalarippayattu e la tecnica contemporanea dell’Attakkalari Dance Centre.
Il workshop inizierà con un warm-up della respirazione, movimenti cardiovascolari e allungamenti legati allo yoga.
A tutto questo seguire una introduzione all’arte marziale Kalarippayattu e della danza classica Bharatanatyam, portando l’attenzione alla concezione del corpo e ai principi di movimento di queste discipline.
I partecipanti saranno guidati attraverso la tecnica di movimento dell’Attakalari, una tecnica unica, contemporanea, inspirata dalle discipline indiane. La giornata culminerà in un rilassamento e defaticamento finale.
Hemabharathy Palani
Coreografa di fama internazionale, Hemabharathy Palani è una dei talenti più promettenti della danza contemporanea in India. Conosciuta per la sua fluidità e musicalità, Hema è una coreografa intuitiva e una performer assolutamente dinamica.
Sul palco il suo focus è ipnotico, accompagnando il suo pubblico nelle storie che intesse con il suo movimento articolato con grazia e precisione.
Questa grazie e ricchezza di contenuto in particolare, le deriva dal suo training, presso l’Attakalari Centre for Movement Arts di Bangalore, con la danza classica indiana Kuchipudi e Bharatanatyam, la danza classica, lo Yoga, la danza contemporanea e la Capoeira.
Attualmente lavora presso l’Attakalari Centre come direttrice prove, insegnante e coreografa. Come membro dell’Attakalari Dance Company ha partecipato in diversi rinomati festival in tutto il mondo.
Ha completato residenze con maestri come Jonathan Burrows, durante il Sadler’s Wells Summer University Programme per ben 4 anni.
Hemabharathy è stata coreografa per la Rambert Dance Company(London). Ha collaborato con Rachel Davies e Daniel Saul del R&D Studio (UK).
Ha dato origine al progetto video ECA (EkChoti si Asha) come parte del Big Dance, presentato sul canale televisivo Channel 4.
Il suo ultimo lavoro Perpetuo con compositore e musicista italiano ha ottenuto molto successo.
Le sue coreografie sono profondamente personali e evocative. Hemabharathy ha recentemente vinto il Robert Bosch Young Choreographers Award, Audience First Choice Prize at Stuttgart International Solo Dance Festival nel 2014 and the Best Female International Choreographer and Performer Award at the Festival Danses Quartiers(Montreal) nel 2018.
Ha lavorato presso i più grandi festival di danza a livello mondiale.

Workshop description
Workshop on classical dance Bharatanatyam, martial art Kalarippayattu and Attakkalari’s unique contemporary technique inspired and influenced by these traditions. The workshop will begin with a warmup starting with breathing, cardio-vascular movements and Yoga based stretches. This will be followed by Introduction to Indian Martial Art form Kalarippayattu and Classical Dance Bharatanatyam, particularly looking at the concepts of body and principles of movement embedded in these movement disciplines. The participants then will be led through Attakkalari Movement Technique, a unique contemporary movement language inspired, informed, and influenced by the concepts and principles of Indian physical and performance disciplines. The day will culminate with a relaxation and cooling down routine.
Hemabharathy Palani
An award-winning choreographer and dancer, Hemabharathy Palani is one of the most promising talents in contemporary dance in India today. Known for her fluidity and musicality, Hema is an intuitive choreographer and a dynamic performer. On stage, her focus is hypnotic, drawing her audience into the story she weaves with her gracefully articulated movements. This remarkable grace and rich texture is derived from her earlier training in classical dance forms Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam as well as ballet, many strands of Contemporary Dance, Yoga as well as martial forms Kalarippayattu, and Capoeira at the Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts.
She is currently working at Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts as the rehearsal director, teacher and choreographer. As a member of Attakkalari Dance Company, Hema has performed in some of the most renowned festivals and venues across the world. She has also completed residencies under mentors like Jonathan Burrows, during her Sadler’s Wells Summer University programme for four years.
Hemabharathy was a choreography fellow at Rambert Dance Company (London). Hema’s collaboration with Rachel Davies and Daniel Saul of R&D Studio (UK) resulted in a screen dance project ECA (Ek Choti si Asha) as part of “Big Dance”, which was also screened on Channel 4 TV. Her latest work Perpetuo with Italian composer and musician has received much acclaim. Her choreography is deeply personal and evocative. Hemabharathy has won the Robert Bosch Young Choreographers Award, Audience First Choice Prize at Stuttgart International Solo Dance Festival in 2014 and the Best Female International Choreographer and Performer Award at the Festival Danses Quartiers (Montreal) in 2018. Hema has performed her choreography in some of the biggest contemporary dance venues and festivals across the Globe.
