Umbria 2017: NEXT GENERATION, Incubatore per lo sviluppo di nuove Performance

Un ritiro intensivo per teatro giovane e danz’autori under 35 finalizzato a dare supporto ai progetti che sono ancora in fase iniziale per ideazione e sviluppo.
Next Generation è un programma speciale aperto a singoli artisti, compagnie, gruppi informali. Gli artisti avranno l’opportunità di iniziare a sperimentare le idee del nuovo lavoro (teatro, danza, performance, etc.), di lavorare individualmente o in gruppo sui loro progetti, mentre sono immersi nell’ambiente circostante umbro. Il gruppo internazionale di artisti e produttori del La MaMa saranno invitati a seguire i ritiri come mentori offrendo una serie di workshop giornalieri ed attività volte a stimolare il processo creativo, incoraggiando lo scambio e il dialogo tra i vari partecipanti. Periodicamente agli artisti sarà chiesto di condividere il loro processo con gli altri partecipanti e di fornire feedback costruttivi. A conclusione del periodo gli artisti mostreranno il loro lavoro a un pubblico invitato composto principalmente da altri artisti, persone del settore della danza e del teatro.
Questo programma è concepito come incubatore per nuovi progetti in stadio embrionale e non è aperto a coloro i cui progetti siano già in avanzata fase di sviluppo che richieda invece una residenza orientata alla produzione. Ci si propone di scoprire nuovi talenti e di far emergere nuove idee performative promettenti. Qualche artista può essere invitato a candidarsi per un ulteriore periodo di residenza presso La MaMa Umbria così da avanzare lo sviluppo della precedente idea.
Il programma è aperto a un massimo di 15 partecipanti. E’ supportato dal Ministero della Cultura e dalla Regione Umbria. I partecipanti dovranno coprire i costi dei loro viaggi, sistemazione e vitto (il prezzo per sistemazione e vitto presso La MaMa Umbria è stimato attorno ai 400 euro per 10 giorni). La MaMa può assistere i partecipanti a trovare soluzioni a tariffe scontate. I partecipanti avranno accesso a tutti gli spazi, alle dotazioni del La MaMa Umbria e potranno interagire con mentori professionisti relativamente a bisogni specifici e a specifiche richieste.
I candidati interessati devono inoltrare il form per la candidatura e i seguenti materiali:
- biografia e ruolo di ogni partecipante;
- lettera motivazionale che esplichi in che modo questa opportunità serve allo sviluppo progettuale;
- descrizione del progetto e dell’idea che si intende esplorare durante la residenza;
- link online (video, audio, immagini, rassegna stampa, etc.) del lavoro passato del candidato;
- richieste tecniche ed altre necessità.
Dopo aver ricevuto la candidatura la commissione selezionatrice può richiedere un colloquio col candidato, che può svolgersi sia di persona, se possibile, oppure via Skype. Da tutte le candidature ricevute solo una verrà accolta in accordo alle linee guida della residenza.

Umbria 2017: NEXT GENERATION, New Performance Development Incubator

An intensive residential retreat for young theatre and dance creators under 35 years old, designed to give time and support to projects that are still in their initial phase of conception and development.
Next Generation is a special program open to individual artists, companies and informal groups during which the artists will have the opportunity to begin experimenting with ideas for new performances (theatre, dance, performance, etc.). The artists will have the opportunity to work individually or in groups on their own projects, while immersed in the natural inspiring environment of La MaMa Umbria. An international group of La MaMa artists and producers will be invited to follow the retreat as mentors, offering a series of daily workshops and activities aimed at stimulating the creative process, and encouraging the exchange and dialogue among the various participants. Periodically the artists will be asked to share their process with other participants and to provide constructive feedback. At the conclusion of the retreat, the artists will showcase their work for an invited public composed mainly of artists, theatre and dance presenters.
This program is meant as an incubator for new performance projects in an embryonic stage and will not be open to projects that are already in an advanced phase of development, which require a more production oriented residency. It’s purpose is to discover new talents and nurture the emerging of new promising performative ideas. Some of the artists may be invited to apply for a further residency period at La MaMa Umbria in order to advance the development of showcased ideas.
This program is open to a maximum of 15 participants. It is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Region Umbria, thus it will be free of charge. Participants will be responsible to cover the costs of their own travel, lodging and food. (Lodging and food at La MaMa Umbria is estimated to not exceed 400 Euros for ten days.) La MaMa can assist participants to find solutions at special discounted rates. Participants will have access to all the spaces, facilities and equipment owned by La MaMa Umbria and will be able to interact with professional mentors about specific needs and requirements.
Interested candidates must submit the application form, and the following:
- biography and role of each participant;
- motivational letter expressing how this opportunity will serve the artistic development of the project;
- description of the project idea to explore during the residency;
- online samples (video, audio, images, reviews, etc.) of past work of the candidates;
- technical requirements and other special needs.

After receiving the applications, the selection committee might require an interview with the applicants, to take place in person when possible or through Skype. From all the applications received, only the ones that are considered most in accordance with the goals of the residency will be invited to take part in the program.
