Dopo diversi anni dedicati alle presentazioni di arte contemporanea alla periferia della Slovacchia, il festival ha iniziato a concentrarsi sulla riflessione artistica delle singole culture nella regione e sul loro reciproco dialogo interculturale. La base del programma di tre giorni del festival è costruita attorno ai risultati artistici di quattro progetti multimediali collaborativi: Symposium Theatrum, Symposium Pictum, Symposium Musicum e Observatorium, grazie ai quali un gruppo eterogeneo di venticinque artisti si incontrerà nella città di Stará Ľubovňa per più di due settimane (dal 4 al 21 agosto 2018). Oltre ai 3 bandi per i Symposia pubblichiamo un invito a presentare proposte per partecipare all’ UM UM Festival (17-19 agosto 2018).
Il programma del festival fornirà un luogo all’arte slovacca ed internazionale, cioè teatro, danza, letteratura, film, workshop, produzioni musicali, dibattiti con ospiti invitati, fuori programma per bambini e altre attività drammaturgicamente correlate all’argomento di quest’anno: la relazione tra i tedeschi dei Carpazi, Ebrei, Slovacchi a Stará Ľubovňa.
Gli organizzatori invitano a partecipare attivamente all’ UM UM Festival, partecipando a uno dei simposi di Stará Ľubovňa oppure presentando la vostra proposta per il programma del festival.

UM UM Community Festival of Contemporary Theatre and Arts
Germans, Jews, Slovaks and Stará Ľubovňa

After several years devoted to the presentations of contemporary art on the periphery of Slovakia, the festival has started to focus on artistic reflection of individual cultures in the region and their mutual intercultural dialogue. The basis of the festival’s three day program is built around the artistic outputs of four mutually collaborative multimedia projects: Symposium Theatrum, Symposium Pictum, Symposium Musicum and Observatorium, thanks to which a heterogeneous group of twenty-five artists will meet in the town Stará Ľubovňa for more then two weeks (August, 4 – 21, 2018). Beside the three symposia Open Calls we publish a Call for proposals to join UM UM Festival (August, 17-19, 2018).
The program of the festival will still provide the room for Slovak and international art, namely theatre, dance, literature, film, workshops, musical productions, discussions with invited guests, off-program for children and other accompanying activities dramaturgically related to the topic of this year: the relationship between Carpathian Germans, Jews, Slovaks in Stará Ľubovňa. We would like to invite you to actively participate to UM UM Festival, by joining one of the symposium in Stará Ľubovňa the next summer or by submitting your proposal for the program of the festival.
