Per la quarta volta, il festival ‘Tanztheater INTERNATIONAL’ e il balletto del Teatro dell’Opera di Hannover offrirà nel 2015 tre residenze artistiche per giovani coreografi, al fine di promuovere giovani talenti e sostenere nuove creazioni nel campo della danza. Con questo progetto, i due partner, ancora una volta condividono la responsabilità di sostenere e investire nel futuro di questa forma d’arte. A causa della sfortunata tendenza in Germania che vede in scena produzioni che coinvolgono pochi danzatori, i coreografi devono essere incoraggiati a raccogliere la sfida di creare opere lavori con gruppi più numerosi. Il programma di residenza si compone di varie fasi da maggio a settembre 2015.
Il programma si rivolge a coreografi di danza contemporanea all’inizio della loro carriera professionale, che abbiano presentato i loro primi progetti (o sono in grado di fornire la prova di opere in fase di sviluppo).
A tre coreografi sarà data la possibilità di creare una nuova produzione con un massimo di dieci ballerini (durata max. 20 min.). Il sostegno al progetto è sotto forma di una residenza finanziata, che dura dall’inizio di agosto fino all’inizio di settembre. Le tre residenze si svolgeranno contemporaneamente.
Con la partecipazione dei coreografi selezionati, il 3 maggio 2015 si terrà un’audizione congiunta per i ballerini che formeranno l’ensemble per la rappresentazione di tutte e tre le produzioni. Maggiori informazioni su questa un’audizione aperta si possono trovare sul www.tanznetz.de a partire dalla fine di marzo 2015. Il periodo di prove intensive si svolgerà negli ampi studi di danza del Teatro dell’Opera di Stato durante la pausa estiva a partire dall’inizio di agosto.
Dal momento che i coreografi lavoreranno con lo stesso gruppo, il tempo per le prove deve essere condiviso tra di loro. Di conseguenza, ogni coreografo avrà tempo circa due settimane di prova fino alla première. Vorremmo sottolineare che il breve periodo di produzione fornirà solo limitate possibilità di scenografia, costumi e (se possibile) video – questo aspetto dovrebbe essere considerato nella concezione del progetto. (Il direttore di produzione, naturalmente, farà del suo meglio per soddisfare le richieste artistiche, per quanto possibile).
Le tre produzioni dell’ensemble saranno presentate insieme come un’unica serata durante il festival all’inizio di settembre, offrendo così ai coreografi una piattaforma internazionale.
Singolarmente i benefits includono: cachet per la coreografia, indennità giornaliera, alloggio, rimborso delle spese di viaggio di andata e ritorno, sale prove, pagamento dei ballerini, l’uso di attrezzature tecniche, consigli di drammaturgia quando è richiesto, nonché documentazione video e foto.
La data di chiusura delle iscrizioni è il 4 marzo, e deve includere curriculum vitae, materiale dimostrativo di precedenti lavori su DVD, una approfondita descrizione del progetto della coreografia proposta per Hannover con informazioni sulla musica che verrà utilizzata. L’uso della musica dal vivo non è possibile. La domanda può essere presentata in tedesco o in inglese. Saranno ammesse solo le domande dei singoli coreografi. Le domande presentate da compagnie non possono essere accettate.
Una giuria è composta da rappresentanti della compagnia di balletto, dal festival così come anche da esperti esterni che decideranno in merito alla ripartizione delle residenze. Call for Applications: “Think Big“ – Artists in Residence Program 2015 for young choreographers in Hanover
For the fourth time, the festival TANZtheater INTERNATIONAL and the ballet of the State Opera Hanover will be offering into 2015 three artist residencies for young choreographers, in order to promote upcoming talent and to support new creations in the field of dance. With this project, the two partners once again share the responsibility of supporting and investing in the future of the art form. Because of the unfortunate trend in Germany towards free scene productions involving very few dancers, choreographers are to be encouraged to meet the challenge of creating works incorporating larger groups. The residency program consists of various stages from May to September 2015.
The program is aimed at contemporary dance choreographers at the beginning of their professional careers who have presented their first projects (or are able to provide evidence of works in development).
Three choreographers will be provided with the opportunity to create a new ensemble production with up to ten dancers (duration of max. 20 min.). Project related support is in the form of a funded residency, lasting from the beginning of August until the beginning of September. The three Artist residencies will take place simultaneously.
With the participation of the selected choreographers, there will be a joint audition for dancers on May, 3rd 2015 who will form an ensemble for the representation of all three productions. More details about this open audition can be found on www.tanznetz.de as of the end of March. The intensive rehearsal period will take place in the spacious dance studios of the State Opera during the summer recess as of the beginning of August.
Since the choreographers will be working with the same ensemble, the rehearsal time has to be shared between them. In consequence, each choreographer will have about two weeks rehearsal time until the premiere. We would like to point out that the brief production period will provide only limited possibilities for stage design, costume and (if applicable) video – this should be considered in the project conception. (The production manager will, of course, do his best to fulfil artistic requests as far as possible).
The three ensemble productions will be presented together as a single full-length evening during the festival TANZtheater INTERNATIONAL at the beginning of September, thereby offering the choreographers an internationally acclaimed platform.
Individually arranged benefits include: fee for the choreography, per diems, accommodation, reimbursement of round trip travel expenses, rehearsal spaces, payment of the dancers, the use of equipment, technical or dramaturgical advice when it is required as well as documentation on video and photo.
March 4th, 2015 is the closing date for applications, which must include a CV, demonstration material of previous works on DVD, an in depth project description of the proposed choreography for Hanover with information on the music that will be used. The use of live music is not possible. The application may be submitted in German or in English.

Only applications from individual choreographers will be permitted. Applications from companies/ensembles cannot be accepted.
A jury composed of representatives from the ballet company, the festival as well as one external expert will decide on the allocation of the residencies. All applicants will be informed of the results by e-mail. The submitted material cannot be returned to the applicants.
