Dal 2016 la Arts Foundation del Nord Reno-Westphalia e la Fondazione Pina Bausch stanno seguendo il credo di Pina Bausch – Finding a language for life – con il programma co-sviluppato dalla Borsa di Studio Pina Bausch Fellowship per Danza e Coreografia.
La borsa di studio è utilizzabile:
- come contributo per una residenza temporanea presso istituzioni estere rinomate per la danza e la coreografia
- per una partecipazione non retribuita in una compagnia o la collocazione di un coreografo all’estero o in patria
- per studi coreutici con personalità rinomate all’estero o in patria
I borsisti hanno la possibilità di acquisire nuove esperienze e sono incoraggiati a sviluppare le loro proprie caratteristiche artistiche con nuove forme di espressione. Per questo scopo è necessario cercare un partner di cui vi interessa il lavoro o col quale desiderate collaborare. Il partner che collabora può essere un ensemble, un coreografo, una personalità rinomata della danza o un istituto di formazione per la danza o la coreografia. Ogni candidato deve trovare un partner cooperante prima della domanda per la borsa di studio. I candidati devono sottoporre la conferma da parte del partner di cooperazione per richiedere l’assegno di studio. La Pina Bausch Fellowship non è un programma di residenza per lavorare sulle proprie produzioni artistiche bensì consente ai borsisti di apprendere nuovi modi di espressione tecnica ed artistica lavorando col partner cooperativo.
INFORMAZIONI GENERALI
Il Pina Bausch Fellowship non è il finanziamento a un progetto e non è finalizzato allo sviluppo di nuovi lavori.
Ogni borsista può prendersi un periodo minimo di 3 mesi ed un massimo di 6 mesi. Esso include un ammontare mensile di 2.500 euro e un viaggio A/R. Ogni anno vengono date fino a 4 borse di studio. La sponsorizzazione degli studi è promossa internazionalmente e non ha restrizioni di età e si rivolge a singoli artisti nel campo della danza, sia danzatori che coreografi. Essi possono candidarsi se rispondono ai requisiti.
CANDIDATURA
La candidatura per il Pina Bausch Fellowship 2019 è possibile dal 1 giugno al 15 settembre 2018 ed è solo online a questo link https://fellowship.pinabausch.org/en/home
La procedura richiede :
- lettera di motivazione, in inglese (massimo 1500 caratteri compresi gli spazi vuoti)
- un breve statement col planning del vostro soggiorno, in inglese (massimo 800 caratteri compresi gli spazi vuoti)
- CV in formato tabulare, in inglese (massimo 1500 caratteri compresi gli spazi vuoti) e foto ritratto
- informazioni relative alla pianificazione del soggiorno: date e durata
- lettera di intento, in inglese, da parte del partner cooperativo (ad esempio una compagnia, una persona rinomata nel settore, o una istituzione nel campo della danza o della coreografia)
- materiale video
Per i coreografi
- una selezione di pubbliche performance (non più di 3 video)
Per i danzatori
- una selezione di partecipazioni in produzioni (non più di due video) e un video di performance basata su task che loro stessi si sono dati (1 video non più lungo di 5 minuti)
Si prega di notare che è necessario fornire il materiale video online, ad esempio un file in un portale video. È possibile specificare i link e le password (se presenti) nel modulo di richiesta. Per motivi tecnici non è consigliabile utilizzare YouTube o Dailymotion per il caricamento. I link-video non funzionanti purtroppo non possono essere considerati.
REQUISITI PERSONALI
Per i danzatori:
- diploma universitario/accademico in danza e/o due anni di esperienza professionale in un rinomato ensemble
Per i coreografi:
- creazione indipendente di almeno una produzione con presentazione pubblica negli ultimi 3 anni
Al fine di prendere parte al programma del Fellowship è richiesta una conoscenza basilare dell’inglese per le proposte, per comunicare con gli organizzatori, per la partecipazione alle discussioni dei progetti proposti, per gli incontri con la stampa e le pubbliche presentazioni. Inoltre tutta la comunicazione per la parte organizzativa avviene in inglese.
SELEZIONE
I borsisti saranno selezionati da una giuria internazionale e saranno annunciati a metà dicembre 2018. La decisione è definitiva e incontestabile. La coreografa Eun-Me Ahn, la ballerina e coreografa Shantala Shivalingappa e la curatrice Enrique Rivera costituiscono la giuria della Fellowship Pina Bausch 2019.
INIZIO E FINE
I partecipanti scelti prendono parte ad una settimana introduttiva a Wuppertal dal 16 al 20 gennaio 2019. Dopo la fine dell’anno della borsa di studio, presentano i loro risultati con una conferenza a Wuppertal nel gennaio 2020.

Finding a language for life – the Arts Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Pina Bausch Foundation have been following up on Pina Bausch’s credo since 2016 with a co-developed grant programme and award the Pina Bausch Fellowship for Dance and Choreography.
THE SPONSORSHIP IS MEANT FOR
- grants for a temporary residence at renowned institutions for dance and choreography abroad
- a non-paid participation in an ensemble or a placement with a choreographer at home or abroad
- the studies of dance techniques with renowned personalities at home or abroad
The scholarship holders are getting the chance to gain new experiences and are encouraged to develop their own artistic characteristics with new forms of expression.
For that purpose you need to look for a partner in whose work you are interested in or with whom you would like to cooperate. The cooperating partner can be an ensemble, a choreographer, a renowned personality of dance or a training institution for dance or choreography. Each applicant needs to find a cooperating partner prior to the application for the fellowship. The applicants have to submit a confirmation by the cooperation partner to apply for the fellowship. The Pina Bausch Fellowship is not a residency programme to work on own artistic productions, but enables the scholarship holders to learn new ways of artistic expression and techniques by working with a cooperation partner.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Pina Bausch Fellowship is not a project fund, nor is it aimed at the development of new pieces.
Each fellowship can take a minimum of three months and no longer than six months. It includes a monthly allowance of 2.500 Euros and one-time travel expenses. Up to four fellowships are granted each year.
The Fellowship is promoted internationally. It has no age-restrictions and aims at single artists from the fields of dance and choreography (dancers and choreographers). They can apply if they meet the personal requirements.
APPLICATION
An application for the Pina Bausch Fellowship 2019 is possible from June 1st to September 15th, 2018, and online only on fellowship.pinabausch.org
The application procedure requires:
- letter of motivation (max. 1500 characters with blanks in ENGLISH)
- a brief statement on your planned stay (max. 800 characters with blanks in ENGLISH)
- CV in tabular form (max. 1500 characters with blanks in ENGLISH) and a portrait
- information on the planned date and duration of the stay
- letter of intent from the cooperating partner (e.g. an ensemble, a renowned person or institution from the field of dance or choreography, in ENGLISH)
- video material
For choreographers
- a selection of public performances (no more than three videos)
For dancers
- a selection of performances in artistic productions (no more than two videos) and a recording of an artistic performance based on a task that they set for themselves (one video, no longer than five minutes)
Please note that you need to provide the video-material online, e.g. by secure file upload to a video portal. You can specify the links and passwords (if any) in the application form. For technical reasons we do not recommend to use YouTube or Dailymotion for your upload. Videos, whose links are not functional, can unfortunately not be considered.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
For dancers
- university/academic degree in dance and/or two years professional experience with a renowned ensemble
For choreographers
- independent creation of at least one production with a public performance in the last three years
- In order to take part in the Fellowship programme, basic knowledge of the English language is required for purposes of communication among the Fellowship holders and the participation in formats such as the presentation of the project proposal, press meetings and public presentations. Organisational handling such as email contact and travel bookings are going to be in English.
SELECTION
The grant holders are selected by an international panel and will be announced in mid-December 2018. The panel’s decision is final and incontestable. Choreographer Eun-Me Ahn, dancer and choreographer Shantala Shivalingappa and curator Enrique Rivera are the judging panel for the Pina Bausch Fellowship 2019.
KICK-OFF AND CONCLUSION
The selected participants take part in an introductory week in Wuppertal from January 16th to 20th, 2019. Following the end of the fellowship year, they introduce their results with a lecture in Wuppertal in January 2020.
