La coreografa Katie Green cerca danzatori per un progetto in site-specific alla Dulwich Picture Gallery di Londra

Da maggio a luglio 2017, la coreografa Katie Green collaborerà col curatore Helen Hillyard per creare una nuova promenade performance che connetterà le nuove commissioni del Pavilion all’interno della Dulwich Picture Gallery con le principali gallerie.

Rispondendo al focus su Private Made Public per il bicentenario della galleria, il pezzo integrerà testo e movimento prendendo forma di una promenade danzata ed esplorando il lavoro a partire dalla collezione permanente così come le storie collezionate dai visitatori del passato e del presente.

Per selezionare i danzatori la coreografa organizza il 24 aprile 2017, dalle 10.30 alle 16:00, un giorno di workshop/audizione solo su invito al Dulwich Picture Gallery di Londra, nel Regno Unito.

Questa giornata è un’opportunità per esplorare lo spazio e le prime idee del lavoro con Katie Green e Helen Hillyard, ma anche un’opportunità per trovare 4 danzatori che prenderanno parte al lavoro finale. Gli organizzatori si augurano che i partecipanti trovino questa esperienza una interessante opportunità di sviluppo professionale indipendentemente se li saranno invitati o no al lavoro finale.

I danzatori scelti saranno chiamati a partecipare a 3 settimane di creazione e performance nelle seguenti date:

Prove:
23, 25, 30 maggio e 1 giugno 2017
settimana che inizia il 12 giugno 2017 da lunedì a venerdì
settimana che inizia il 19 giugno 2017 dal lunedì al venerdì

Performance:
23 giugno (di sera) – 14 luglio 2017 (prove lungo il giorno e spettacolo di sera)

Si tratta di un lavoro retribuito. Tuttavia si prega di notare che non saranno rimborsati i costi dei viaggi e dell’alloggio; pertanto si deve tener conto che prove e performance si terranno principalmente alla Dulwich Picture Gallery oppure in altri spazi locali.

Per chi si candida:

Per il seminario/audizione del 24 aprile 2017 si accettano candidature da tutti i danzatori (inclusi coloro che vogliano partecipare al workshop ma non intendono prendere parte alla performance), ma si noti che i selezionati per la creazione idealmente dovrebbero:

• essere capaci di creare materiale di movimento durante l’improvvisazione
• avere esperienza nel lavoro in site-specific, soprattutto nei musei e nelle gallerie
• essere a proprio agio col testo
• essere performers impegnati, e saper lavorare anche se molto vicini al pubblico
• saper lavorare in velocità, con buona memoria e capacità di cambiare le cose in risposta, ad esempio, alle variazioni di direzioni o del comportamento del pubblico
• essere organizzati ed amichevoli per lavorare come parte di un team

Questo progetto è soggetto a finanziamento ma il workshop del 24 aprile non dipende dal risultato della risposta.

Choreographer Katie Green is Looking for Dancers for a Site-Specific Project

From May – July 2017, choreographer Katie Green will be collaborating with curator Helen Hillyard to create a new promenade performance piece that will connect the newly commissioned Pavilion in the grounds of Dulwich Picture Gallery with the main gallery space.

Responding to the Private Made Public focus for the gallery’s bicentenary year, the piece will integrate text and movement, taking the form of a danced ‘tour’ and exploring work from the gallery’s permanent collection as well as stories collected from visitors past and present.

Where: We will be holding an invitation only workshop/audition day for this project on-site at the Dulwich Picture Gallery, London, UK

When: 24th April 2017 (10.30-4pm)

This will be a chance to explore the space and early ideas for the work with Katie and Helen, but will also be a recruitment opportunity to find 4 dancers to take part in the final piece. We hope that dancers would find this an interesting professional development opportunity regardless of whether or not we are able to invite them to participate in the final work.

Selected dancers would be invited to participate in a 3 week creation and performance process as follows:

Rehearsal:
23rd, 25th, 30th May and 1st June
w/c 12th June, Monday-Friday
w/c 19th June, Monday- Friday

Performances:
23rd June (evening)
14th July rehearsal during the day and performances in the evening

This would be a paid opportunity for selected dancers. Please note that we cannot cover travel and accommodation costs for the project, so you may wish to bear in mind that the rehearsals/performance will take place primarily on-site at Dulwich Picture Gallery or in other spaces local to the gallery.

Application process
We welcome applications from all dancers for the workshop/audition on the 24th April (including those who would like to attend the workshop, but cannot participate in the later rehearsals/performances), but please note that the dancers selected to participate in the final creation process will ideally be:

• skilled at creating movement material through improvisation
• experienced working site-specifically, especially in museums/gallery spaces
• comfortable working with text
• engaging performers, comfortable working in close proximity to an audience
• able to work quickly, with a good movement memory and capacity to change things in response to direction or to the behaviour of the audience for example
• organised, friendly and able to work well as part of a team

This project is subject to funding, but the workshop on the 24th April is not dependent on our funding outcome.
