Gummitwist è un programma di nutrimento per coreografi ospitato dal Theater Felina-Areal a Mannheim, in Germania. Il progetto supporta lo sviluppo di 3 coreografi a inizio o a metà carriera basati nel Rhein-Neckar Region, Germania.
Per questo progetto si cercano coreografi che a loro volta siano alla ricerca di una guida e supporto per lo sviluppo del proprio lavoro. Gummitwist è diretto dal coreografi di Heidelberg Edan Gorlicki che sarà mentore del programma. Il programma offre una settimana di seminario con docenti ospiti, un periodo di creazione/sperimentazione e 2 pubbliche presentazioni al Theater Felina-Areal. Per ogni coreografo scelto verrà dato un supporto finanziario al lavoro con danzatori/performer, un modesto budget di produzione e compenso.

Non si cercano idee per nuovi lavori. Si cercano artisti che siano interessati ad accrescere la propria pratica. Le strategie di tutoraggio saranno concepite e costruite insieme con ogni artista selezionato e basate sui bisogni e gli interessi dei coreografi in relazione ai scopi e obiettivi degli stessi, dei mentori e degli organizzatori.
Tempi e scadenze:
- Scadenza per le candidature: 14 giugno 2018
- Tutti i candidati verranno intervistati di persona o via skype/telefono dal 18 al 22 giugno 2018 (i colloqui saranno effettuati in inglese)
- Annuncio degli artisti selezionati: 1 luglio 2018
- Settimana di workshop week (obbligatoria): dal 15 al 19 ottobre 2018
- Periodo di creazione/sperimentazione (le date esatte verranno concertate con ogni coreografo selezionato): 22 ottobre – 21 novembre 2018
- Settimana di scambio (obbligatoria): dal 19 al 23 novembre 2018
- Presentazioni (obbligatorie): 27 e 28 novembre 2018
Gli artisti saranno scelti da una giuria professionale e la selezione basata sulle candidature contenenti il materiale scritto e video online dei lavori e interviste. Il programma verrà condotto in inglese ma le candidature possono essere sia in inglese che in tedesco.

Gummitwist 2018 – Open Call for Choreographers
Gummitwist is a nurturing program for choreographers hosted by Theater Felina-Areal, Mannheim. The project supports the development of 3 beginning to mid career choreographers based in the Rhein-Neckar Region, Germany. We are searching for choreographers who are looking for guidance to support the further development of their work. Gummitwist is directed by the Heidelberg choreographer Edan Gorlicki, who will serve as a mentor for the artists throughout the program. The program offers a workshop week with guest teachers, creation/experimentation period and 2 public research presentations at Theater Felina-Areal. Each choreographer selected will be offered financial support to work with dancers/performers, a modest production budget and fee.

We are not looking for ideas of new works. We are looking for artists who are interested in improving their practice/craft. The mentoring strategies will be constructed and designed together with each selected artist based on the needs and interests of the choreographers in relation to the aims and goals of the artists, mentors and organization.

All applicants will be interviewed in person or via skype/phone: June 18 – 22, 2018 (Interviews will be constructed in the English language)

Workshop week (mandatory): October 15 – 19, 2018
Creation/experimentation period (exact dates to be concluded with each selected choreographer):
October 22 – November 21, 2018
Exchange week (mandatory): November 19 – 23, 2018
Presentations (mandatory): November 27. & 28., 2018
Artists will be chosen by a pre-selected jury of professionals based on written applications, online videos of work (if any) and interviews. The program will be conducted in English but applications can be written in both English and German languages.
