Il coreografo Gary Clarke cerca un danzatore uomo versatile e molto capace da integrare alla Gary Clarke Company per la tournée primaverile ed estiva nel Regno Unito della sua acclamata produzione Coal.

L’audizione si svolgerà sabato 10 dicembre 2016 a Londra presso The Place, 17 Dukes Road con il seguente orario:

Vincitore del UK Theatre Award for Achievement in Dance, Coal è uno spettacolo avvincente di teatro danza, che guarda con nostalgia alla realtà delle vita nelle miniere di carbone. Descritta dal Times come ‘eccezionale’, la produzione vede coinvolti oltre ai ballerini professionisti, una banda live di ottoni, la comunità e un team progettuale.

Coal ha ricevuto il finanziamento per The Arts Award dell’Arts Council England ed è co-commissionato e supportato da: DanceXchange, Dance City, CAST Doncaster, Yorkshire Dance, The Place, Dance4, Nottingham Playhouse, The Barnsley Civic, Northern School of Contemporary Dance e dal The National Union of Mineworkers.

Ruolo di lavoro

All’artista che verrà selezionato verrà chiesto di imparare il repertorio di Coal da un ruolo esistente. Lo spettacolo avrà 14 date in totale in teatri nazionali di media e piccola dimensione tra la primavera e l’estate 2017 e in alcune performance certe sezioni della piece sono eseguite in site-specific. Verrà chiesto di tenere dei workshops su Coal nelle scuole, nei colleges e nelle università nazionali. Verrà chiesto di lavorare a fianco a un gruppo di operai uomini e donne.

potranno esserci delle flessibilità attorno a queste date relativamente alle circostanze e parlandone con la compagnia

Altre ulteriori date di spettacolo e seminari dalla primavera all’estate 2017 possono essere aggiunti discutendone con gli artisti della compagnia in una successiva tournée autunnale dall’autunno 2017 e saranno confermate entro aprile così da negoziare ed estendere il contratto.

Retribuzione: £500 alla settimana + feste pagate per 9 settimane di ingaggio = £4500 più rimborso viaggi, sistemazione e diaria.

Questa è un’audizione aperta solo a danzatori uomini. I candidati interessati devono dimostrare di avere una forte tecnica sia nella danza contemporanea che nel floor-work, grande fisicità, capacità teatrali, esperienza nel lavoro fisico, buona capacità nel contact e nel partnering, ottima resistenza, abilità nell’improvvisazione, creatività, musicalità, confidenza col testo, capacità nel gestire emozionalmente il lavoro e la volontà e l’apertura a lavorare con la comunità e con non-danzatori; infine buona attitudine al lavoro, senso dell’umorismo, essere collaborativi, saper lavorare sotto pressione e avere esperienza didattica.

Gary Clarke Company Audition

Choreographer Gary Clarke requires 1 versatile and highly skilled male dancer to join Gary Clarke Company for a UK Spring & Summer Tour of the critically acclaimed mid-scale dance theatre production Coal.

Where: The Place, 17 Dukes Road, London, WC1H 9PY

Open Audition 1 – 10am until 1pm
Open Audition 2 – 2pm until 5pM

Winner of the UK Theatre Award for Achievement in Dance, Coal is a riveting piece of dance theatre which takes a nostalgic look at the hard hitting realities of life at the coal face. Described by The Times as ‘Outstanding’ the production involves a company of professional dancers, live brass bands, community participants and a strong design and production team.

COAL is funded through a Grants for The Arts Award from Arts Council England and is co-commissioned and supported by: DanceXchange, Dance City, CAST Doncaster, Yorkshire Dance, The Place, Dance4, Nottingham Playhouse, The Barnsley Civic, Northern School of Contemporary Dance and The National Union of Mineworkers.

Job Role

The successful artist will be required to: Successfully learn the repertoire from COAL from an existing role. Perform COAL at various mid-scale theatre venues nationwide in Spring & Summer 2017 (14 shows in total). Perform certain sections of COAL at site-specific locations linked to each venue and area. Deliver COAL workshops at schools, colleges and universities nationwide. Work with and alongside groups of women from working class communities.

(There can be some flexibility around these dates depending on the circumstances in conversation with the company)

(Other additional dates for performances and workshops for Spring / Summer 2017 may be added in discussion with the artists and the company and additional touring dates for Autumn 2017 will be confirmed by April 2017 and extended contracts negotiated.)

Fee: £500 per week plus holiday pay x 9 weeks engagement = £4500 PLUS additional travel, accommodation and per diems covered

This is an OPEN audition for male dancers only, but interested applicants should demonstrate:

A very strong contemporary dance technique, strong floor work technique, a strong physical build, strong physical theatre skills, experience in highly physical work, good contact and partnering skills, very good stamina, good improvisation and creative skills, good musicality, confidence in text work, the ability to connect with very emotionally driven work, a willingness and openness to work with the community / non-dancers, a good working attitude, a good sense of humour, the ability to collaborate and work well as a team, the ability to work well under pressure, confidence and experience in delivering education and outreach work, a full CRB check

Recent graduates are welcome to audition.

Successful candidates from both auditions will be invited to a recall audition on Sunday 11th December from 10am until 6pm.
