Il Coreografo Gary Clarke cerca 2 eccellenti danzatori uomini da integrare alla Gary Clarke Company per la tournée autunnale della pluri-premiata produzione COAL.

Vincitore dell’ UK Theatre Award e del Critics Circle National Dance Award, COAL è un pezzo di teatrodanza che con una visione nostalgica parla della dura realtà nascosta della vita in miniera. Descritto nel Times come ‘Outstanding’, la produzione coinvolge danzatori professionisti, una live band di fiati ottoni, una comunità di partecipanti e un forte team produttivo. COAL è finanziato da Creative Scotland Grant ed è co-commissionato e supportato da: DanceXchange, Dance City, CAST Doncaster, Yorkshire Dance, The Place, Dance4, Nottingham Playhouse, The Barnsley Civic, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Unione Nazionale dei Minatori e dal National Coal Mining Museum of England.

Ai selezionati sarà poi chiesto di:

imparare il repertorio di COAL da un ruolo esistente.
danzare in COAL in vari spazi teatrali di media grandezza nell’autunno 2017 (6 spettacoli in totale).
danzare alcune sezioni di COAL in site-specific.
dare dei workshop su COAL in scuole, college e università nel Regno Unito.
lavorare a fianco di gruppi di donne che fanno parte della classe lavoratrice scozzese.

Date del progetto:
dal 3 all’8 settembre 2017 – prove a Londra
dal 9 al 30 settembre 2017 – tournée scozzese a Edimburgo, Greenock e Sterling

Ulteriori date di tournée in primavera 2018 (nel Regno Unito e all’estero) verranno offerte e pertanto i contratti verranno estesi.

Retribuzione: £500 alla settimana per 4 settimane di ingaggio (£2000), e in più ferie pagate, viaggi rimborsati, sistemazione logistica e diaria.

I contratti da performers di Gary Clarke rispettano le ITC / Equity Agreements.

Questa è un’audizione per soli danzatori uomini e i candidati interessati devono dimostrare: forte tecnica nella danza contemporanea, grande tecnica nel floor-work, prestanza fisica, notevole capacità teatrale, esperienza nel lavoro fisico, buona capacità nel contact e nel partnering, ottima resistenza, buona capacità nell’improvvisazione, creatività, buona musicalità, confidenza col lavoro sul testo, abilità a connettersi con un lavoro emotivo, apertura e volontà verso un lavoro di comunità di non-danzatori, attitudine positiva sul lavoro, sense of humour, capacità a lavorare in team e sotto pressione, esperienza nel lavoro pedagogico oltre a totale controllo CRB.

Prima di candidarsi si prega di considerare se si è appropriati a ricoprire il ruolo. I neodiplomati sono benvenuti.

L’audizione si svolgerà a Londra sabato 5 agosto 2017 con re-call la domenica 6 agosto 2017 presso The Place / London Contemporary Dance School, 17 Dukes Road, Londra, entrambi i giorni dalle 9.30 alle 18:00.

Gary Clarke Company Audition

Choreographer Gary Clarke requires 2 highly skilled male dancers to join Gary Clarke Company for an Autumn Scottish tour of the critically acclaimed mid-scale dance theatre production COAL.

Winner of a UK Theatre Award and a Critics Circle National Dance Award, COAL is a riveting piece of dance theatre which takes a nostalgic look at the hard hitting realities of life at the coal face. Described by The Times as ‘Outstanding’ the production involves a company of professional dancers, live brass bands, community participants and a strong design and production team. COAL is funded through a Creative Scotland Grant and is co-commissioned and supported by: DanceXchange, Dance City, CAST Doncaster, Yorkshire Dance, The Place, Dance4, Nottingham Playhouse, The Barnsley Civic, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, The National Union of Mineworkers and The National Coal Mining Museum of England.

The successful artists will be required to:

Successfully learn the repertoire from COAL from an existing role.
Perform COAL at various mid-scale theatre venues in Autumn 2017 (6 shows in total).
Perform certain sections of COAL at site-specific locations linked to each venue and area.
Deliver COAL workshops at schools, colleges and universities nationwide.
Work with and alongside groups of women from Scottish working class communities.

Project Dates – 2017
3rd to 8th September 2017 – Rehearsals in London
9th to 30th September 2017 – Scottish Tour to Edinburgh, Greenock and Sterling

Further tour dates in Spring 2018 (UK and International) will be added with the offer of extended contracts

Fee: £500 per week x 4 weeks engagement (£2000) plus holiday pay, additional travel, accommodation and per diems covered.

Gary Clarke contracts performers using ITC / Equity Agreements and has a House Agreement with Equity.

This is an audition for male dancers only and interested applicants should demonstrate: a very strong contemporary dance technique, strong floor work technique, a strong physical build, strong physical theatre skills, experience in highly physical work, good contact and partnering skills, very good stamina, good improvisation and creative skills, good musicality, confidence in text work, the ability to connect with very emotionally driven work, a willingness and openness to work with the community / non-dancers, a good working attitude, a good sense of humour, the ability to collaborate and work well as a team, the ability to work well under pressure, confidence and experience in delivering education and outreach work, a full CRB check.

Recent graduates are welcome to audition.
