Bando per candidatura e residenze nell’ambito del festival artistico-culturale Begehungen che si terrà dal 16 al 19 agosto 2018 a Chemnitz, in Germania.
Quest’anno il festival di arte e cultura Begehungen ha la sua destinazione finale nel bel mezzo della vita! La quindicesima edizione di Begehungen si svolgerà all’interno di un orto. Il consorzio di associazioni Vereinte Kraft è un rifugio che promuove l’autorealizzazione. È una gemma nascosta, incastonata in un ambiente urbano: adagiata su una collina, occupata da lotti di giardino, fiori, alberi e piazzole. La struttura contiene più di 300 lotti, circa 25 di questi attualmente non sono occupati e sono distribuiti in tutta l’area. Proprio lì, nel cuore della comunità di giardinaggio, vogliamo realizzare la nostra esposizione col vostro apporto.
Dal nostro punto di vista, un lotto giardino-orto è una bella metafora per la convergenza delle dicotomie vecchie e moderne delle nostre società. Urban/rurale, umano/natura, individualismo/collettività, economia/ecologia o locale/straniero. Il lotto orto-giardino è il luogo esatto in cui possiamo elaborare queste contraddizioni. Non è raro che le dicotomie nominate riflettano le crepe delle nostre società, manifestandosi come trincee tra “questi e quelli”, “gli altri e noi”, tra “voi e me”. Il lotto-giardino sarà il luogo dialettico per questo alterco artistico.
Poiché l’evento si svolge nel cuore di una società urbana, non si tratta di un’unità isolata all’interno di questo habitat. Le installazioni saranno una componente immanente degli insediamenti allocativi della vita di tutti i giorni. Organizzatori, artisti e pubblico interagiranno tra loro con un risultato imprevedibile.
Bando
Nell’ambito dell’argomento sopra descritto, chiediamo candidature di opere d’arte che esporremo oppure di idee da svilupparsi in una residenza di quattro settimane a Chemnitz. Questo bando si rivolge a tutti i tipi di espressioni artistiche relative alla libera sperimentazione del suddetto argomento. Tutte le opere, scelte da una giuria professionale di cinque persone, saranno esposte nel giardino Vereinte Kraft per l’intero festival, inserito in programma di supporto diversificato e composto da musica, conferenze e workshop.
Retribuzione
Gli artisti selezionati riceveranno un compenso di 200 € + spese di spedizione. Gli artisti in residenza riceveranno un compenso fino a 1500 € inclusi i materiali, le spese di viaggio da e per Chemnitz e anche la spesa per l’alloggio (residenza).

Begehungen 2018 – Beyond plots
Call for applications and residencies for the Begehungen art- and culture festival from 16.08 until 19.08.2018 in Chemnitz.
This year’s art- and culture festival Begehungen has its final destination in the midst of life! Issue no.15 of the Begehungen will take place inside an allotment garden. The allotment association Vereinte Kraft is a refuge that fosters self-realization. It is a hidden gem, embedded in an urban environment: nestled on a hillside, occupied with garden lots, flowers and trees, and plots.The facility contains more than 300 allotments, about 25 of them currently are unoccupied and distributed all over the area. Right there, in the heart of the gardening community, we want to realize our exhibition Project with your help.
From our perspective, an allotment garden is a beautiful metaphor for the convergence of the old and yet so modern dichotomies of our societies. Urban vs. Rural, Human vs. Nature, Individualism vs. Collectivism, Economy vs. Ecology or Local vs. Foreigner. The allotment garden is the exact place where we can conclusively process these contradictions. It is not uncommon, that the named dichotomies reflect the cracks in our societies, manifesting as trenches between “these and those,” “the others and us,” between “you and me.” The allotment garden shall be the dialectic place for this artistic altercation.
Since the exhibition takes place inside the heart of an urban society, it is not an isolated unit within this habitat. The installations will be an immanent constituent of the allot settlements everyday life.Garden plot holders, artists, and the audience will interact with each other with an unpredictable outcome.
Call
Under the topic described above, we are calling for applications with works of art that we will exhibit or a concept for a four-week residency in Chemnitz. This Open Call goes out to all kinds of artistic expressions related to free artistic explorations of the mentioned topic. All works, chosen by a professional jury of five, will be exhibited in the allotment garden community Vereinte Kraft for the whole festival amidst high media presence against the background of a diverse support program comprised of music, lectures and workshops.
Professional fees
Artists of chosen entries get an expense compensation of 200 € + postage costs (entries) Artists in residence get an expense allowance of up to 1500 € including material resources, travel costs to and from Chemnitz as well as free accommodation (residencies).
