Il Modern Body Festival è un’iniziativa intermediale in cui convergono arte e tecnologia, fondato e diretto da artisti. Il Modern Body Festival accoglie lavori che siano finiti, o quasi finiti e in linea col tema di quest’anno. Sono molto aperti sulle forma d’arte e il formato proposti.
Il festival esamina la natura della nostra attuale esistenza attraverso edizioni tematiche dedicate ad esperienze fisiche, viscerali, coinvolgenti e intime. Lavori che indaghino il corpo moderno nell’ambito dei mondi che emergono quando si intersecano e collimano diverse forme d’arte modulandosi l’un l’altra, focalizzandosi specialmente verso i nuovi media, la danza, la musica, l’installazione, l’arte interattiva, la performance, il teatro e l’architettura.
Il tema per la versione biennale 2018 è ALIEN BODIES (corpi alieni). In questa edizione, dopo i temi dell’uscire da noi stessi (MBF2014) e della salvaguarda del gruppo (MBF2016) si vuole esplorare l’alieno, l’ignoto, l’ “altro”. Nello stesso tempo si usa un processo di alienazione controllata per osservare a distanza noi stessi e le parti sociali con occhio da alieno.
Modern Body Festival 2018: ALIEN BODIES si svolgerà in autunno 2018 (ottobre-novembre) a Den Haag, Olanda, in molti luoghi diversi della città e in vari weekend.

Modern Body Festival Open Call for projects
Modern Body Festival is an intermedia initiative at the convergence of art and technology, founded and directed by artists. The Modern Body Festival welcomes works that are finished, or near-finished, as long as it resonates with this year’s theme. We are very open about discipline and format.

The festival examines the nature of our current existence through thematic editions that curate experiences – physical, visceral, immersive and intimate. We seek the modern body within the new worlds that emerge when different artforms intersect, collide, and modulate each other, focusing specifically in the open field that exists between artforms – new media, dance, music, installation art, interactive art, performance, theater, architecture.
The theme for our 2018 biennial is ALIEN BODIES. In this edition we come out of the cocoon of the self (MBF2014), and the safe harbors of the group (MBF2016) to explore the alien, the unknown, the ‘other’. At the same time, we use a process of controlled alienation to observe our own selves and our societal bubbles from a distance, with the eyes of the alien.
Modern Body Festival 2018: ALIEN BODIES will take place in fall 2018 (October – November) in The Hague, the Netherlands, over several weekends and in various locations throughout the city.
