Acrojou è una compagnia indipendente la cui mission è creare performances fisicamente ambiziose con integrità.

Diretta da Jeni Barnard, il team di Acrojou è composto da Jeni Barnard (designer/direttore), il direttore creativo Barney White (consulente/ performer),  e il direttore tecnico Richard Mowbray (designer/ingegnere). La compagnia è stata fondata nel 2006 al National Centre for Circus Arts di Londra.

Sulla ricerca: 

Diretta da Jeni Barnard e ideata dalla compagnia, Vagabond Matter combinerà la performance fisica con la scienza, la tecnologia e l’ingegneria (suono/design).

La ricerca recente della compagnia comprende:

1. l’evoluzione scientifica dell’umanità. La crescita della conoscenza scientifica e il suo effetto sulla percezione della realtà da parte degli esseri umani, nonché lo sviluppo della comprensione del nostro posto nel cosmo.
2. competenze scientifiche e di ingegneria applicate alla performance, esplorando il punto di incontro tra progettazione, ingegneria, tecnologia, scienza e danza-circo.

Questo sarà un workshop audizione. Stiamo cercando performers molto creativi con inusuali abilità fisiche che vengano a sperimentare con noi. Si prega di visionare sotto le informazioni relative a ciò che stiamo cercando. I partecipanti selezionati saranno invitati a prendere parte al primo stage in autunno 2016.

Requisiti dei candidati:

• elevata creatività
• abile ideatore, con esperienza nel processo creativo e che lavori in modo collaborativo
• elevata capacità come performer fisico
• abilità nel movimento e nel teatro sono essenziali
• la compagnia cerca in particolare performers con capacità davvero insolite di circo e performance (contorsionisti, acrobati/ coppia di acrobati con un insolito approccio coreografico, manipolatori scatole di sigari, giocolieri con la palla) ma è anche molto aperta anche a candidati con altre capacità.
• I candidati devono essere basati in UK
• la compagnia è un piccolo team: tutta la compagnia deve essere coinvolta e bisogna essere un gran lavoratore
• Date audizione: 3 e 4 marzo 2016. Luogo: The Point, Eastleigh.

3. max 1 pagina di lettera di presentazione con incluso: perché volete prendere parte al casting; il proprio interesse per la materia di ricerca; propria esperienza e approccio al lavoro creativo; breve sommario delle proprie abilità fisiche.
4. Un breve lettera di referenza di un coreografo o direttore con cui avete lavorato recentemente con capacità creativa.

Acrojou are an independent, artist-led company whose mission is to create ambitious physical performance with integrity: work addressing the human condition that is both accessible and challenging.

Led by Artistic Director Jeni Barnard, Acrojou’s core team is Jeni (designer/director), Creative Director Barney White (devisor/ performer), and Technical Director Richard Mowbray (designer/engineer). The company was founded in 2006 at the National Centre for Circus Arts, London.

About the research:

Designed and directed by Jeni Barnard, devised by the company, Vagabond Matter will combine physical performance with science, technology and design engineering.

Our research currently comprises:

1. Mankind’s scientific evolution. The growth of scientific knowledge and its effect on how Humans perceive and shape reality, as well as developments in our understanding of our place in the Cosmos.
2. Scientific and engineering expertise applied to physical performance, exploring the meeting point of design, engineering, technology, live science and dance-circus.

This will be a workshop audition.We are seeking highly creative performers with unusual physical skills to come and experiment with us. Please see below for information on the physical skills we are seeking. Selected participants will then be invited to take part in the first stage R&D, Autumn 2016.

Applicant requirements:

• Highly creative
• A skilled deviser, experienced in the process of creating work collaboratively
• Highly skilled as a physical performer
• Theatrical and movement/ dance ability are essential
• We are particularly seeking the below skill areas, though we are very open to applications from people with other skills – particularly performers with very unusual circus or physical performance skills. Contortionists, Acrobats/ pair acrobats with unusual choreographic approaches, Cigar box manipulators, Bounce ball jugglers.

• Applicants must be based in the UK
• We are a small team – all company members must be team-players and hard workers
• Dates: March 3rd and 4th
• Location: The Point, Eastleigh

3. A (max) one-page cover letter, inc’: Why you would like to be considered for the casting. Your interest in the subject matter for the research. Your devising experience and approach to creating work. A brief summary of your core physical skills.
4. A short written reference from a choreographer or director with whom you have worked recently in a creative capacity.
