Il Princeton Arts Fellowships, finanziato dalla Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, dalla David E. Kelley Society of Fellows in the Arts e dal Maurice R. Greenberg Scholarship Fund, sarà assegnato agli artisti i cui risultati siano stati riconosciuti come dimostrazione di una promessa straordinaria in qualsiasi area della pratica artistica e dell’insegnamento.
I candidati possono essere compositori, direttori d’orchestra, musicisti, coreografi, artisti visivi, registi, poeti, romanzieri, drammaturghi, designer e artisti della performance – ma questo elenco non è esaustivo – tra coloro che riterranno utile e benefico trascorrere due anni insegnando e lavorando in una comunità universitaria artisticamente vivace.
I borsisti del Princeton Arts Fellows trascorrono due anni accademici consecutivi (1 settembre -1 luglio) presso l’Università di Princeton ed è previsto il formale insegnamento. Il normale lavoro assegnato consiste nel tenere un corso ad ogni semestre, soggetto all’approvazione del Preside della Facoltà, ma ai borsisti potrebbe essere chiesto di tramutarlo in un incarico artistico (al posto delle lezioni), come ad esempio far la regia di una pièce teatrale o fare una creazione coreografica con gli studenti. Sebbene il programma didattico sia leggero, ci si aspettia che i borsisti siano membri attivi nella comunità, impegnati a frequentare e a interagire con gli studenti durante l’anno accademico.
Lo stipendio annuale è di $ 82.000. Le borse di studio non sono destinate a finanziare lavori di dottorato. Non è necessario essere cittadini statunitensi per candidarsi. I titolari di dottorato conseguito a Princeton non possono presentare la domanda.
Tutti i candidati devono presentare il curriculum vitae personale, uno statement di 500 parole su come si intende utilizzare i due anni della borsa di studio in questo momento della propria carriera oltre alle informazioni e i contatti relativi a tre referenze. Ci si può candidare per il Princeton Arts Fellowship solo due volte nel corso della vita.

Princeton Arts Fellowships
Princeton Arts Fellowships, funded in part by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, David E. Kelley Society of Fellows in the Arts, and the Maurice R. Greenberg Scholarship Fund, will be awarded to artists whose achievements have been recognized as demonstrating extraordinary promise in any area of artistic practice and teaching.
Applicants should be early career composers, conductors, musicians, choreographers, visual artists, filmmakers, poets, novelists, playwrights, designers, directors and performance artists–this list is not meant to be exhaustive–who would find it beneficial to spend two years teaching and working in an artistically vibrant university community.
Princeton Arts Fellows spend two consecutive academic years (September 1-July 1) at Princeton University and formal teaching is expected. The normal work assignment will be to teach one course each semester subject to approval by the Dean of the Faculty, but fellows may be asked to take on an artistic assignment in lieu of a class, such as directing a play or creating a dance with students. Although the teaching load is light, our expectation is that Fellows will be full and active members of our community, committed to frequent and engaged interactions with students during the academic year.
An $82,000 a year stipend is provided. Fellowships are not intended to fund work leading to an advanced degree. One need not be a U.S. citizen to apply. Holders of Ph.D. degrees from Princeton are not eligible to apply.
All applicants must submit a resume or curriculum vitae, a personal statement of 500 words about how you would hope to use the two years of the fellowship at this moment in your career, and contact information for three references. In addition, work samples are requested to be submitted online (i.e., writing sample, images of your work, video links to performances, etc.)
Applicants can only apply for the Princeton Arts Fellowship twice in a lifetime.
