Il prossimo progetto creativo di Vicki Igbokwe, fondatrice di Uchenna Dance, è un remake del racconto Hansel and Gretel, co-prodotto da Uchenna Dance, The Place e il DanceEast. Vicki Igbokwe lavorerà con lo scrittore Gbolahan Obisesan e il compositore Kweku Aacht per realizzare una nuova versione della fiaba. La coreografa porterà il suo feroce vocabolario di movimento (un mix di House, Waacking, Vogue, afro e contemporaneo) a narrare questa storia con il segno di Uchenna Dance. La creazione di questo nuovo spettacolo inizierà a metà del 2018 e avrà la tournée nel Regno Unito nella stagione 2018-2019.
Per questo spettacolo si cercano performers dinamici e versatili con esperienza negli stili sopra indicati, che lavorino con il testo e sappiano sviluppare un personaggio, con esperienza nel teatro fisico e infine che siano solisti ma sappiano stare anche in gruppo.
I periodi principali di lavoro sono i seguenti:
- 1 tranche: 25-30 giugno 2018
- 2 tranche: 9-20 luglio 2018
- 3 tranche: 22 ottobre- fine dicembre 2018 – prove (che include una tournée in zone rurali), produzione, anteprima e spettacoli al The Place.
- Ulteriore tournée tra gennaio e marzo 2019 (nel Regno Unito e le date esatte verranno comunicate)
La compagnia ha sede a Londra.

Auditions for Uchenna Dance’s new family show: Hansel and Gretel
Vicki Igbokwe’s (Founder of Uchenna Dance) next creative project is a remake of the tale Hansel and Gretel, co-produced by Uchenna Dance, The Place and DanceEast. Vicki will work with writer Gbolahan Obisesan and composer Kweku Aacht to realise an imaginative new take on a favourite fairytale. Vicki will bring her fierce movement vocabulary, a blend of House, Waacking, Vogue, African and Contemporary, to tell this story with an Uchenna twist. This exciting new family show will begin creation mid-2018 and then tour the UK from 2018-2019.
We are looking for dynamic, versatile performers who can boogie and groove, with experience in the above styles, working with text, character development, physical theatre, strong soloists and group performers.
The main periods of activity are as follows:
1 week R&D: 25-30 June 2018
2 weeks R&D: 9-20 July 2018
w/c 22 Oct – end of Dec 2018 – rehearsals, (to include rural touring R&D week), production week, previews & performances at The Place.
Further Touring Jan-March 2019 (UK wide, exact dates TBC)
The company base will be in London.
