Le compagnie europee possono candidarsi per il BE FESTIVAL che si svolgerà a Birmingham, nel Regno Unito, dal 4 all’8 luglio 2017. Possono essere proposte sia coreografie finite che piece in fase di sviluppo. Le performance non devono essere maggiori di 30 minuti, pertanto alcuni pezzi dovranno essere adattati. L’ethos del festival è di attraversare i confini, quindi saranno programmati lavori in linea con questa visione (linguistica, culturale, artistica).
BE FESTIVAL è uno showcase che offre l’opportunità di essere visti da programmatori nazionali ed internazionali. Le compagnie che si presentano al BE dopo sono state programmate a Londra al festival internazionale Mime Festival, al Barbican, al South Bank Centre, al The Lowry, al Traverse Theatre, al Bilbao ACT Festival, o al Sarajevo MESS Festival solo per dirne alcuni.
Inoltre è un’opportunità per esplorare idee e costruire nuove collaborazioni con performers di tutta Europa.
Alle compagnie selezionate verranno offerti spese di viaggio, sistemazione logistica, vitto, trasporti a Birmingham, un minimo di compenso pari a £100 per ogni performer per sostenere la compagnia nell’adattare la piece al format del festival. Si avrà inoltre libero accesso al programma delle performance, ai workshops.
Una giuria di professionisti della danza e del teatro assegnerà 6 premi principali al BE FESTIVAL:
- un Premio di Sviluppo: £1500 e una residenza finanziata per sviluppare il proprio lavoro e presentarlo al BE FESTIVAL l’anno seguente;;
- Premio ACT Festival: una performance supportata e una residenza a Bilbao;
- Premio MESS festival: una data pagata a Sarajevo;
- 3 UK Touring prizes: una tournée finanziata per 18 date tra UK e la Spagna dall’autunno alla primavera.
Programma Site-specific
Se avete un pezzo in site-specific o avete idea di farne uno gli organizzatori del Festival vogliono avere notizie in merito. Alle compagnie selezionate verrà fornito il viaggio di A/R, la sistemazione, il per-diems, il trasporto a Birmingham, e una retribuzione minima di £100 a performer, spazio per le prove e supporto di produzione per creare e adattare il pezzo allo spazio di Birmingham.
Se il pezzo non è maggiore di 30 minuti esso può essere idoneo per i 3 premi principali del BE FESTIVAL assegnati da una giuria professionale di alto profilo:
- Premio BE FESTIVAL: £1500 e una residenza finanziata per sviluppare il proprio lavoro e presentarlo al BE FESTIVAL l’anno seguente;;
- Premio ACT Festival: una performance supportata e una residenza a Bilbao;
- Premio MESS Festival: una data pagata a Sarajevo;

BE Festival Performance Programme
Companies from across Europe can apply to perform at BE FESTIVAL (4-8 July 2017). You can apply either with a finished show or with a piece that is still in development. Performances at BE can be no longer than 30 minutes, so some pieces may need to be adapted. The ethos of the festival is to cross borders, so we will programme work that crosses borders (linguistic, cultural, artistic) and which inspires people of all nationalities.

BE FESTIVAL is a powerful showcase opportunity as performances are watched by national and international programmers. Companies who performed at BE have since been programmed at London International Mime Festival, The Barbican, South Bank Centre, The Lowry, Traverse Theatre, Bilbao ACT Festival, Rome Short Theatre Festival and Sarajevo MESS Festival to name a few.
Furthermore, it’s an opportunity to explore ideas and build new collaborations with performers from across Europe. Selected companies will be provided with return travel, accommodation, meals, transport in Birmingham, a minimum fee of £100/performer to support the company adapting the piece to the festival’s format and will get free access to all of the performance programme, world-class workshops, feedback, discussions and opportunities for professional development.
A jury of theatre and dance professionals awards 6 main prizes at BE FESTIVAL:
- one Development Prize: £1500 and a funded residency to develop your work and perform it at BE FESTIVAL the following year;
- the ACT Festival Prize: a supported performance and a residency in Bilbao;
- the MESS Festival Prize: a funded paid performance in Sarajevo;
- three UK Touring prizes: a funded, paid tour of 18 venues across the UK and Spain in Autumn and Spring.
Site-specific Programme
If you have an existing site-specific piece or have an idea for creating one, we would love to hear about it. The selected company will be provided with return travel, accommodation, per-diems, transport in Birmingham, a minimum fee of £100/performer, space for rehearsals and production support to create or to adapt the piece to the space in Birmingham.
If the piece is no longer than 30 minutes, it will be eligible for 3 main prizes at BE FESTIVAL awarded by a jury of high profile professionals:
- BE FESTIVAL prize: £1500 and a funded residency to develop your work and perform it at BE FESTIVAL the following year;
- ACT Festival prize: a supported performance and a residency in Bilbao;
- MESS Festival prize: a funded paid performance in Sarajevo.
