La IX° edizione del Concorso Internazionale di Giovani Performers OPUS 1 – brevi pezzi di danza 2017  si svolgerà al Teatro Nazionale Sloveno di Celje, in Slovenia il 15 aprile 2017. Il Concorso è aperto a danzatori nati tra il 1993 e il 2002, che possono candidarsi con :

• un assolo che sia ideato e coreografato dal danzatore stesso
• un duetto che sia concepito e coreografato dai danzatori in autorialità condivisa.

I candidati devono vivere al di fuori della Slovenia. Coloro che risiedono o vivono in Slovenia devono giungere al concorso tramite i concorsi nazionali.

Tema del concorso: sognate e realizzate il vostro sogno!

L’organizzatore del concorso pubblica un tema ogni anno che i danzatori devono usare come base per le loro brevi creazioni coreografiche. Gli argomenti annuali sono tesi a stimolare i danzatori a pensare in modo critico sulle tematiche individuali e forniscono loro un incentivo per cercare, ricercare , conoscere, creare e pensare. I sogni possono essere una meravigliosa fonte di idee e di ispirazione per gli artisti. Quindi, chiudete gli occhi e andate avanti nel percorso sorprendente e sconosciuto.

Età dei gruppi e durata dei pezzi:

• Gruppo B (nati tra il 1998 e il 2002) – massimo 4 minuti;
• Gruppo C (nati tra il 1993 e il 1997) – massimo 5 minuti.

La giuria sarà composta da tre esperti di danza riconosciuti a livello internazionale. Negli anni precedenti tra i membri figuravano Susan Quinn, Matej Kejžar, Martin Sonderkamp, Milan Tomášik (Les SlovaKs), John Taylor, Magdalena Reiter, Loup Abramovici, Teja Reba, Eduardo Torroja, Ryuzo Fukuhara, Roberto Olivan … Quelli di quest’anno verranno annunciati appena saranno confermati!

I Premi saranno assegnati a

• Miglior pezzo breve –  performance e coreografia  (gruppo B: 300 euro, gruppo C: 800 euro);
• Miglior idea (gruppo B: 150 euro, gruppo C: 400 euro);
• Migliore performance di danza (gruppo B: 150 euro, gruppo C: 400 euro).

Oltre a questi premi i danzatori saranno in lizza anche per i seguenti:

• Il Dance studio Intakt e JSKD selezioneranno un giovane artista che otterrà un aiuto di produzione per un nuovo progetto che debutterà all’ OPUS 2018 e avrà la post-produzione nel festival di danza contemporanea Platforma a Maribor
• Una giuria giovane selezionerà un pezzo breve e ne premierà i performer con la partecipazione alle classi e ai workshops nella scuola estiva internazionale di Ljubljana
• Matjaz Farič, direttore artistico del festival internazionale di danza contemporanea Front@, selezionerà dei pezzi che saranno presentati nella XII ed. del Front@ festival a settembre 2017.

International Competition of Young Dance Performers OPUS 1

The 9th International Competition of Young Dance Performers OPUS 1 – short dance piece 2017 (Slovenian National Theatre Celje, Slovenia, 15th April 2017) is open to dancers born between 1993 and 2002, who can apply with:

A solo dance piece which is both conceived and choreographed by the performing dancer

A duet, which is both conceived and choreographed by the performing dancers – shared authorship

Dancers who apply should live outside of Slovenia. Dancers living in Slovenia should reach the international competition through national contests.

THEME: HAVE A DREAM AND DO IT!

The organiser of the competition publishes a theme every year that the young dance performers must use as a basis for their short dance piece. The annual themes are meant to stimulate young dancers to think critically about individual issues and provide them with an incentive to get to know, research, create and think.

Dreams can be a wonderful source of ideas and inspiration for artists. So close your eyes and get on the path of the surprising and unknown. (see attachment for more!)

Age groups and lengths of short dance pieces:

• Group B (born between 1998 and 2002) – maximum 4 minutes;
• Group C (born between 1993 and 1997) – maximum 5 minutes

 

The jury will be composed from three renowned international dance experts. In previous years, jury members included Susan Quinn, Matej Kejžar, Martin Sonderkamp, Milan Tomášik (Les SlovaKs), John Taylor, Magdalena Reiter, Loup Abramovici, Teja Reba, Eduardo Torroja, Ryuzo Fukuhara, Roberto Olivan… This year’s jury will be announced as soon as it is confirmed!

The prizes will be awarded for the

• Best short dance piece –  dance performance and choreography (group B: EUR 300, group C: EUR 800);
• Best idea (group B: EUR 150, group C: EUR 400);
• Best dance performance (group B: EUR 150, group C: EUR 400).

Apart from these awards, performers will also vie for the following:

• Dance studio Intakt and JSKD will select a young dance artist, who will get a grant for producing a new dance project, which will be premiered at the OPUS 2018 and have a postproduction on festival Platforma of contemporary dance in Maribor
• A young jury will select one short dance piece and award its performer with participation at dance classes and workshops at the international summer dance school in Ljubljana
• Matjaz Farič, artistic director of the international contemporary dance festival Front@, will select dance pieces, which will be presented at the 12th edition of the Front@ festival, September 2017.

The deadline for applications is 6 March 2017.
