Inky Cloak Theatre Company sta cercando due danzatori contemporanei di colore (di età tra 18 e 28 anni) da inserire nella loro imminente produzione We Raise Our Hands In The Sanctuary che andrà in scena al The Albany, Deptford, Londra a febbraio 2017. Si lavorerà con la coreografa Mina Aidoo.
Lo spettacolo racconta la storia di due amici che costruiscono un night club gay sotterraneo dove i frequentanti possono sfuggire al razzismo, all’omofobia e al disagio che c’era per le strade di Londra nel 1980. Pare stiano andando alla conquista del mondo, fino a quando l’ambizione, la dipendenza e l’arrivo dell”AIDS minacciano di farli a pezzi.
Cerchiamo danzatori con formazione nella danza contemporanea capaci di lavorare con precisione tecnica ed energia, incorporando stili e gestualità dei nightclub di quell’epoca. I danzatori devono essere capaci di improvvisare e devono essere interessati a esplorare i modi in cui i gay hanno vissuto in quel tempo. I danzatori interpreteranno i ruoli (non parlati) di due artisti di night club che si imbarcano in una storia d’amore che si svolge per tutto il pezzo, come un contrappunto all’ amicizia tra gli attori principali.
Cosa comporterà l’audizione: l’audizione si terrà a Londra venerdì 28 ottobre 2016. Si lavorerà con un piccolo gruppo ristretto di candidati per esplorare cosa potrebbero apportare, sia individualmente che come gruppo, al processo creativo e alle performances.
Date del progetto: tre settimane di prove dalle 10:00 alle 18:00 per 5 giorni alla settimana a partire da lunedì 9 gennaio 2017. Due settimane di spettacoli da martedì 31 gennaio a sabato 11 febbraio 2017.
Retribuzione: £440 alla settimana

Inky Cloak Theatre Company are looking for two black contemporary dancers (playing age 18-28) to perform in their upcoming show We Raise Our Hands In The Sanctuary at The Albany, Deptford, London SE8 in February 2017. You will be working with choreographer Mina Aidoo.

The show tells the story of two friends who build an underground gay nightclub where devotees can escape the racism, hardship and homophobia that stalk the streets of 1980s London. And it looks like they’re going to conquer the world, until ambition, addiction and the dawning onslaught of AIDS threaten to tear them apart.
At a time when nightclubs are being closed across the capital and rampant gentrification is sweeping away LGBT pubs and bars, We Raise Our Hands In The Sanctuary tells its uplifting story with drama, contemporary dance and the club sounds of the 1980s. It’s a celebration of the crucial importance of queer spaces and the power of gay friendship.
Skill set:
We are looking for dancers with a background in contemporary dance who will be able to work with energy and technical precision, while incorporating styles and gestures from the nightclub dance floors of the era. The dancers will be able to improvise in the rehearsal room, and interested in exploring the ways in which gay men lived through the era. The dancers will play the non-speaking roles of two nightclub performers who embark on a romance that unfolds throughout the piece, as a counterpoint to the friendship between the principal actors.
What the audition will entail:
Audition will take place in London on Friday 28th October. We will be working with a small group of shortlisted applicants to explore what they could bring individually and together to the rehearsal process and performances.
Dates of the project
Three weeks of rehearsals running 10am-6pm five days a week, starting on Monday 9th January. Two weeks of performances, Tuesday 31st January to Saturday 11th February, 2017.
Rate of pay: £440 a week.
