Lost Dog Dance Residency offre a una Summer Residency per recenti diplomati e studenti di danza e teatro di corsi professionali. Saranno 3 giorni intensivi tenuti dal direttore artistico Ben Duke e sarà impostato per replicare le prime fasi del processo di prove di Lost Dog esplorando le attività teatrali, vocali e fisiche come un modo per creare materiale personale o collettivo.
La residenza si svolgerà dal 9 al 12 settembre 2016 a Laughton Lodge, Laughton, Lewes, East Sussex, BN8 6BY

Il workshop inizierà ogni giorno con una classe di balletto contemporaneo tenuta da Pippa Duke (Pippa insegna alla LCDS ed è stata danzatrice al Nederlands Dance Theater. La sua classe è pensata per permettere ai danzatori contemporanei di accedere al balletto con fluidità e dando forte enfasi alla connessione col suolo lavorando in tridimensionalità), seguita dall’esplorare dei tasks sulla relazione tra pubblico e performer. Per i partecipanti ci sarà anche tempo di lavorare individualmente e l’opportunità di mostrare cosa è stato creato nella giornata finale di lunedì. La residenza è situata a Laughton Lodge vicino Lewes, un luogo tranquillo e idilliaco nell’East Sussex, in cui i partecipanti sono invitati a stare per la durata della residenza.
Scrive Ben Duke: “In Lost Dog’s usualmente iniziamo cercando materiale di movimento che ci dica qualcosa delle persone che stiamo osservando. Siamo interessati a scoprire dei tasks che sia di sfida e di ispirazione per loro. Pare che spesso il miglior lavoro accada in queste prime fasi di prove.’
Date e timing: venerdì 9 settembre 12:00-17.30; sabato 10 e domenica 11 settembre 10:00-17:30; lunedì 12 settembre 10:00-12:00.
Costo: £150 se la prenotazione è effettuata entro il 1 luglio 2016 – dopo £200. La sistemazione è disponibile in loco con ulteriore £65 per 3 notti inclusi il vitto.
Viaggio: la stazione più vicina è Uckfield, 6 miglia da Laughton Lodge. Un passaggio per andare a prendere e riportare è incluso nella tassa di residenza. L’alternativa è l’auto.

Lost Dog Dance Residency is back and offering a Summer Residency for recent graduates and theatre/dance students from full time undergraduate professional training courses. This will be a 3 day intensive led by Artistic Director, Ben Duke and will be set to replicate the first stages of Lost Dog’s rehearsal process; exploring theatrical, vocal and physical tasks as a way of creating solo and group material.
When: 9 – 12 September.

The workshop will begin each day with a contemporary ballet class led by Pippa Duke* followed by explorative tasks of the relationship between audience and performer. There will also be time for the participants to work individually and an opportunity to share what is created on the final Monday morning. The residency will be based at the idyllic Laughton Lodge near Lewes, a tranquil and inspiring space in the East Sussex countryside, where participants are invited to stay for the duration of the residency.
*Pippa teaches at LCDS and was a dancer with Nederlands Dance Theater. Her class is designed to allow contemporary dancers to access ballet with a sense of flow, and has a strong emphasis on connection to the floor, travelling and three dimensionality.
‘In Lost Dog’s work we usually begin by searching for movement material that tells us something about the person we are watching. We are interested in discovering tasks that are challenging or inspiring to people. It seems that often the best work is made in these early playful stages of rehearsal.’ Ben Duke

Cost: £150 early bird offer for booking made before 1 July 2016 and £200 thereafter.
Accommodation is available on site for an additional £65 for 3 nights including food.

Travel: The nearest train station is Uckfield, 6 miles away from Laughton Lodge. One pick up and drop off is included in the residency fee. Alternatively there is onsite parking should you wish to drive.
