Il coreografo Gary Clarke cerca 5 ballerini versatili e altamente qualificati da inserire nella neo costituita Gary Clarke Dance Company per la ricerca, la creazione e l’anteprima del suo nuovo lavoro Coal.

Creata in occasione del 30° anniversario dallo sciopero del 1984 dei minatori britannici, questa produzione originale ed esilarante coinvolgerà la compagnia di danza, band di ottoni dal vivo, i partecipanti della comunità e un team produttivo (design, drammaturgo etc). La produzione sarà in tour nel Regno Unito nel 2016 e successivamente.

Coal è co-commissionato e supportato da DanceXchange, Danza City, Yorkshire Dance, The Place, Dance4 / Nottingham Playhouse, The Civic Barnsley, Northern School of contemporary dance a Cast Doncaster con ulteriori finanziamenti da Arts Council England attraverso una sovvenzione per il Premio Arti previsto dal maggio 2015.

Creatione 2: dal 1 giugno al 26 giugno (4 settimane)

Settimana di produzione e anteprima : 29 giugno – 3 luglio (1 settimana)

Paga: £ 3,600 (£ 450 a settimana per 8 settimane), più viaggio e alloggio.

Le prove si svolgeranno a Leeds, Barnsley and Doncaster (Yorkshire).

I candidate interessati devono possedere: una forte tecnica contemporanea, una forte struttura fisica, una forte tecnica di floor work, eccellenti doti attoriali, esperienza in lavori altamente fisici, buona resistenza, buone capacità creative e di improvvisazione, confidenza nel lavoro sul testo, la volontà di lavorare con una comunità di non danzatori, buon atteggiamento di lavoro e la capacità di collaborare. Sono invitati a candidarsi anche i neodiplomati.

L’audizione si svolgerà a Londra e Leeds (UK) con il seguente calendario:

• Audizione 1 a Londra: sabato 28 marzo 2015 dalle 11.00 alle 19.00 presso la London Contemporary Dance School, 7 Dukes Road, London, WC1H 9PY
• Audizione 2 a Leeds: sabato 4 aprile 2015 dalle 10.00 alle 17.00 presso lo Yorkshire Dance, 3 Quarry Hill, Leeds, LS9 8AH.

L’audizione è solo su invito. Acclaimed choreographer Gary Clarke requires 5 versatile and highly skilled male dancers to join the newly-formed Gary Clarke Dance Company for the research, creation and preview of his new full length midscale theatre production COAL.

MarKing the 30th anniversary of the end of the 1984 British miners’ strike, COAL is a riveting piece of dance theatre which takes a nostalgic look at the hard hitting realities of life in the pits. This original and exhilarating production will involve a company of professional performers, live brass bands, community participants and a strong design and dramaturgical team. The production is to tour to midscale theatre venues throughout the UK in 2016 and onwards.

COAL is co-commissioned and supported by DanceXchange, Dance City, Yorkshire Dance, The Place, Dance4 / Nottingham Playhouse, The Barnsley Civic, Northern School of Contemporary Dance and CAST Doncaster with additional funding  from Arts Council England through a Grant for the Arts Award expected from May 2015.

Project Dates 2015
Creation 1: 27th April to 15th May (3 weeks) – Supported by Commissioners
Creation 2: 1st June to 26th June (4 weeks)
Production week and Preview Performance: 29th June to 3rd July (1 week)

Fee: £3,600 (£450 per week x 8 weeks) plus travel and accomodation covered.

Rehearsals will take place in Leeds, Barnsley and Doncaster (Yorkshire) and all travel and accommodation costs will be covered

Interested applicants should demonstrate:
A very strong contemporary dance technique, a strong physical build, strong floor work technique, excellent physical theatre skills, experience in highly physical work, good stamina, good improvisation and creative skills, confidence in text work, a willingness to work with the community / ‘nondancers’, good working attitude and the ability to collaborate. Recent graduates are welcome to apply.

Auditions will be held in London and Leeds (UK)

• Audition 2: Saturday 4th April 2015, 10am until 5pm. Venue: Yorkshire Dance, 3 Quarry Hill, Leeds, LS9 8AH
